I was raised by old-ass WASPs who were dutiful parents but did not "do feelings". At age 92 my dad FINALLY said it to me on my birthday call. Six weeks later he had a massive stroke that almost killed him and he was never the same again. I cried hysterically for several minutes when we hung up the phone. The love was always there. Again, so sorry for your loss, Jenny and with dementia you lost over time in such a difficult way. I lost my (immigrant) mother recently and it throws everything off forevermore. Thisbis very sweet.
